Abstract

With the arrival of modernity in Iran, due to the differences and conflicts between it and the traditions of Iranian society, the minds of thinkers and Iranian society are involved in the issue of what relationship can be established between these two categories? In the post-revolution era, due to the nature of the Islamic revolution, which was a religious revolution, the dual discussion of tradition and modernity entered a new stage, and new formulations were created in political intellectual currents. The main question of this research is what was the approach of the Islamist movement in the first decade of the Islamic Revolution, especially relying on the thoughts of Imam Khomeini (RA) to the duality of tradition and modernity? In fact, we are looking to investigate the type of confrontation of this trend after the revolution with the duality of tradition and modernity, in order to study and investigate the discourse and intellectual system of Imam Khomeini (RA) and his political action. In terms of methodology, we will describe, interpret and explain the discourse texts of Imam Khomeini's thoughts using Farklaf's critical discourse analysis method. The results of the research show that the intellectual system of Imam Khomeini (RA) emphasizes religion and politics, religious authority, the Islamic Republic and independence as the signs of the Islamic Revolution, based on the central sign of Islam.
