The purpose of this research was to identify and stratify the factors affecting marital intimacy of couples in remarriage with a history of divorce. The current research is of mixed type (qualitative and quantitative). In the first stage, a qualitative research method was performed using thematic analysis, and in the second stage, a quantitative method based on interpretive structural modeling was performed. The statistical population in both qualitative and quantitative sections, due to the expert-centeredness of the interpretive structural modeling approach, formed experts who included experts in the field of counseling and family. Sampling method in the quantitative part, due to the expert-oriented approach of interpretive structural modeling, the experts were in the qualitative part (N=15). The measurement tool in the qualitative part was a semi-structured interview and in the quantitative part, a questionnaire. Validity and reliability of the data were confirmed. Two methods of thematic analysis and interpretive structural modeling (ISM) (Excel software) were used to analyze the data. 15 main themes have been identified. According to the results of the research, communication skills and positive thinking are the most effective factors on the marital intimacy of couples in remarriage with a history of divorce. After that, there are the factors of understanding similarities and differences and flexibility, which are at the first level. In the second place, the homogeneity of religious beliefs, emotion regulation skills and personality style of people are placed. Next is loyalty to each other and empathetic responses.
