Abstract
The customs and traditions of every nation are a valuable treasure trove of information derived from the culture, art, and ethics of the people of a region that has been shaped over time and, after going through the ups and downs of the distant past, has reached that nation today. The importance of Chokheh wrestling as an identity-building element that has its roots in the ritual and mythological past of Iran. According to anthropological studies and the history of sports, it was one of the first organized physical activities of mankind, formed simultaneously with the early stages of human social life, and therefore the antiquity of Chokheh wrestling can be considered in connection with the oldest forms of human wrestling. The present study was conducted based on epic texts, related articles, and theses. After collecting data using documentary and fact-finding methods, the information was examined using qualitative content analysis. For this purpose, first, an initial fact-finding was conducted, then the facts (codes) were organized into conceptual categories, and finally, the main themes were extracted and interpreted. In general, Chokhe wrestling as a sport and culture can play an important role in preserving and promoting cultural treasures. By preserving and transferring wrestling knowledge and skills, strengthening cultural identity, promoting moral and social values, preserving customs and traditions, creating a sense of solidarity, and using wrestling as a symbol, this cultural heritage can be best protected.
