This has set the scene for both AOR supporting and AOR opposing media to step
in the crisis. In this research, we investigated media consumption by Syrian students
and its association with their attitudes toward the AOR. The statistical population
was composed of all students at the Damascus University, out which a total of 383
individuals were selected through quota sampling to form the statistical sample of
this study. Required data was collected through field surveys by means of a
questionnaire, with the results analyzed by SPSS software. Face validity of the
questionnaire was confirmed in two steps (performed in Iran and Syria), and its
reliability was indicated by a Cronbach’s alpha exceeding 0.7. The research findings
showed that the studied statistical population consume media at low levels. Focusing
on their attitude toward the AOR, it was figured out that 0.5, 8.1, 61.6, and 29.8% of
the subjects had highly negative, negative, moderate, and positive attitudes toward
the AOR, respectively. Testing the research hypotheses, it was found that, despite
the direct correlation of the consumption of domestic media to the attitude toward
the AOR, no such significant correlation exists when it comes to social networks and
foreign media. To sum up, the results showed that the attitude toward AOR is
directly associated with the media consumption.
