The data of the present study were collected through a semi-structured interview. Twenty-one clerical and academic professors were interviewed and four brainstorming sessions were held with the presence of seven student activists. The obtained data were analyzed using the theme analysis technique and the factors influencing the effectiveness of cultural activities at universities were identified. Considering the common features of these factors, they were categorized into three groups (main themes): ‘weakness of target’, ‘weakness in understanding culture’ and ‘weakness in planning and organization’. Each one of these main themes includes some minor themes known as its constituent components. Based on the findings, this paper also offers some guidelines for getting rid of these factors.
